Only hand picked grapes from our own vineyard are used for our wines - each block being vinified separately to allow subsequent blending options.

Robert Rowe is in charge of our modern functional winery, which is located centrally in the vineyards.  Because the yields, in all varieties, are so low, the wines are generally intense and have an inherent structure. Our winemaking is aimed at retaining rather than enhancing these characteristics - allowing a framework for each wine to develop and evolve in bottle to provide a wine with complexity and interest, thus necessitating the use of corks – a far more environmentally responsible stopper than screw cap.

Our wines do require food and although they are often described as more European in style than New Zealand, are typical of our rather untypical vineyard and micro-region.
